Raine HamiltonWinnipeg-based prairie songstress Raine Hamilton takes the stage with humour and grace. Imagine a cross between a shorter, more musical Tina Fey and a shorter, funnier Joni Mitchell.

Be transported to a deeply honest place. Her true, clear voice carries you there, bravely cutting through to the heart. There, in the rough and beautiful places, she finds her songs, ringing with courageous transformation, rich with inventive melody, and imbued with sage lyrics; a witching hour walk through universal love, trust and joy. She sings right into your soul.

Raine’s EP Small Packages, a preview of her upcoming full-length album, is “a short collection of songs that are simultaneously earnest and mature” (Daniel Emberg, Stylus Magazine), “complimented by menacing strings and balanced out by Hamilton’s sugary vocals”  (Nicholas Friesen, The Uniter).

“I was stunned to hear something as clear and delicate as her voice ring out – commanding attention with its sensitive, open approach… with a rich musical history at play in her creation, there’s plenty of promise to be teased out of such a short entrance” (Eleni Armenakis, Gray Owl Point).

Small Packages was ringing through the rockies on her recent 16-date tour of BC. “It was just fantastic!” (The Rocky Mountains).

Raine has an established history of live shows, including performances for the Governor General of Canada, West End Cultural Centre, Edge of the World Festival (Haida Gwaii BC), Harvest Sun Festival, Matlock Festival, Anola Little Music Festival, and the Shine on Festival of Music and Arts. Her firm technical and theoretical footing was earned at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Music (B Mus. 2008), and the University of Ottawa School of Music (M.A. Musicology 2011). Recording credits include work with Mich Dorge, Dan Donahue, Bill Hamilton, Murray Pulver and Don Benedictson.
