About:
The Weber Brothers
There are
bands for which rock and roll is a lifestyle, and then there are bands for
which it is life.
At an age when most boys
are still dreaming of rock stardom, The Weber Brothers were too busy
working to care. Four sets a night, four nights a week, the brothers
perfected their hard-won sound in dive bars they were often too young to
frequent. Inspired by their intense love of Scorcese’s classic concert
film “The Last Waltz,” Ryan and Sam sent off a self-recorded demo tape to
the legendary Ronnie Hawkins, the elder statesman of rock whose former
protégés (Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, et al.) went on to reshape the
music history as The Band. Duly impressed by the pair's immense raw
talent, Hawkins promptly invited them to audition for his storied backing
band, The Hawks.
One quick decision and
one long van ride later, they arrived at Hawkins’ rural Ontario home, and
after surviving the intense musical apprenticeship of his fabled “Rock ‘n’
Roll Bootcamp,” they were in: full-blooded Hawks. Ten years and six
self-released albums later, The Weber Brothers have spread their wings,
shared the stage with icons like Garth Hudson, Levon Helm, The Tragically
Hip, Jeff Healey, Domenic Troiano, Leon Russell, Derek Trucks and Kris
Kristofferson, and toured extensively throughout the US, Canada, and
Europe.
“Left Right Left Right,”
their seventh release, is nothing less than a rebirth of The Weber
Brothers sound. A double album of 26 original songs, it fuses the stomping
country rock learned at Hawkins’ knee with the brothers' own love of pop
music in all its splendor, from gorgeous “Pet Sounds”/ “White Album” vocal
harmonies to blacktop-burning 50’s rockabilly, full-throated Crazy Horse
anthems to classic corner group doo-wop. Tightly focused in execution yet
epic in scope, “Left Right Left Right” is The Weber Brothers at their
finest.
Joined by their longtime
explosive keyboardist and Toronto native Shai “Cookie” Peer, New York
powerhouse drummer Emmet VanEtten and new addition Tim Bracken, a Maryland
based multi-instrumentalist, the brothers bring their high energy live
show to Canada for an exclusive Canadian "Left Right Left Right" release
tour.
As Ronnie Hawkins said, "They have the talent to be as big as anyone in
the world."

About: Matt Epp
Matt Epp is a
troubadour in the purest sense. He lives on the road and crafts his songs
from his experiences, from Mexico to Newfoundland and everywhere in
between. His new album ‘Safe or Free’ is a testament to that lifestyle
influenced by the geography of his travels and the relationships he
develops along the way. Co-Produced with John Paul Peters (Waking Eyes,
Comeback Kid) and recorded at Private Ear Studios in Winnipeg, MB, ‘Safe
or Free’ proves Epp Canada’s folk-soul mystery collaborator.
The 12 songs on
‘Safe of Free’ showcase Epp’s dynamic vocal range and unique songwriting.
From the unshakable love duet “This Old House” (with Eliza Gilkyson), the
dynamic commercial radio ready “Working Holiday”, to the Ryan Adams-esque
rock of “Cover Me”, and the haunting duets “They Won’t Find The Bodies”
(with Brandy Zdan of Twilight Hotel) and” I Am The Wind” (with Jesse
DeNatale).
Emerging from
the rich music community of Winnipeg, MB, Matt Epp is known for his
diverse personal and musical connections including collaborations with
Eliza Gilkyson, Jesse DeNatale, Matt Mays among others. His pre-music
history includes professional skateboard film-making and acting, and his
preference for homelessness and hitchhiking over a fixed address. His
previous release ‘Orphan Horse’ (2008) was a favorite on CBC radio and
Alberta’s CKUA radio network. Matt will be on tour in support of ‘Safe or
Free’ in the fall of 2009 in Canada and Europe in early 2010.
Matt will be
back to do our show before he hits the road again, heading down to the
southern states.

band of smoking prairie pistols can do no wrong - from their divine
melodies to their haunting Appalachian ballads, they’ll leave you looking
under your feet for a pile of sawdust and over your shoulder for cold
mountain. Lend an ear people; it simply doesn’t get much better than this.
